Tennenouji’s Friendly lab – unlock(); is an R18 BL adventure game available through DLsite with official English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese language support.
Rather than opening like a traditional romance visual novel, Friendly lab – unlock(); places the player behind the glass of an experiment. The player takes the role of a researcher observing two young men, East and West, inside a locked room. Both subjects are missing parts of their memories, and the player decides how to interfere with their daily lives. The game’s structure revolves around observation and choice. Players can watch the subjects, provide meals, give them objects, create incidents, ask questions, offer entertainment, or have them draw pictures. Those actions influence how East and West respond, slowly changing what the player learns about them and where the experiment leads.
East is quiet, restrained, and difficult to read. He knows that someone is waiting for him outside the room, giving him a reason to want escape even as his memories remain incomplete. West is warmer toward East and tries to recover his own lost memories with him, but his kindness comes with a suspicious edge.

The unlock(); version includes the experiment through Day 10 from the app version, along with exclusive CGs, episodes, R18 content, and endings. DLsite’s listing also notes that the release includes bonus music files and a bonus short story. At the same time, unlock(); is not a complete replacement for every part of the app version. The DLsite product page states that this release does not include cosmetic changes to experimental materials, scenarios from Day 11 onward, forbidden actions from Day 11, or the Revival Experiment.
For players coming in from English BL visual novels, part of the appeal is that Friendly lab – unlock(); now has an official translation. Tennenouji is also known for Lucky Dog 1, making Friendly lab an interesting follow-up for readers who want to see a different side of the circle’s BL game work. Instead of a mafia escape story or a standard route-based romance, this game focuses on a small room, two subjects, and the uncomfortable feeling of controlling the conditions around them.
The DLsite version is an application-format release and is listed as a PlayDRM product. DLsite warns that the game may not work properly unless the user’s PC has the correct Japanese language pack or Japanese system locale settings, so buyers should check the store’s technical notes before purchasing.

Friendly lab – unlock(); is best approached as a strange, dark, contained BL experiment game rather than a normal dating sim. It works as a character study of what can happen between two people when their relationship is shaped by outside interference, forced proximity, and choices that are not always their own.
