Storytaco’s apocalypse-themed BL RPG Zerowake GATES will end service on October 9, 2026.
The official account announced the decision today. After reviewing operational circumstances and the future direction of the service, the team will shut down the game at 13:00 KST (GMT+9) on October 9. New content updates and the release of new paid items are also stopping at that time. Real-money purchases of the premium currency Leptonium end immediately with the notice. Players may continue spending any Leptonium they already hold on in-game items until the final shutdown.
The game remains available as usual until the end of service. After October 9 at 13:00 KST, servers will close and all access to the game and online services will stop. Details on account data retention, refunds for unused paid currency (subject to each platform’s policies), and related matters will be shared in a separate notice. A refund and customer-support information post has already been issued.
Zerowake GATES launched globally on November 26, 2025 on mobile (App Store and Google Play for the SFW edition), Steam, and Erolabs for the 18+ version. Developed and published by the Korean studio Storytaco in collaboration with Kidari Studio, the free-to-play title is set in a post-meteor-invasion world. Players take the role of Guide Han Gaon and pair Espers with Guides in turn-based RPG combat built around card collection and synergy. It features original characters alongside crossovers from popular Kidari Studio webtoons including Painter of the Night, Low Tide in Twilight, and Limited Run.
The game stood out as a rare large-scale Korean-developed BL gacha RPG with a global simultaneous release and dual SFW/NSFW versions. Storytaco, previously known mainly for otome titles and smaller narrative games, invested heavily in webtoon IP crossovers and an Esper-Guide pairing system aimed at international players. Pre-registration exceeded 500,000, and the studio had projected strong long-term growth. The short service life of under a year reflects the challenging market conditions for mid-tier BL gacha titles, though the official notice cites only operational circumstances and a shift in service direction without further detail.
In the notice, the operations team thanked players (called “Awakeners”) for their support and said the time spent with the game would remain a meaningful memory for the staff.
