Thai BL publisher Clover Book, working with studio Animetix, is producing an animated adaptation of Ayothaya Ayawadi (อโยธยาเอยาวดี), a boys’ love work by author Amulin. The publisher has confirmed the anime will stream for free on its Clover Book Studio YouTube channel, with a season 1 trailer already released and the first two episodes set for September 26.

The project stands out primarily due to its funding model. According to Amulin, the adaptation has no outside investor behind it. The author has said this was a deliberate choice, citing concern that a corporate backer might require changes to the story, and that the animation is instead financed directly through fan support, with book and merchandise sales funding the production. Amulin noted that as this community support grew, the project evolved from a simple promotional short into something much bigger.

Ayothaya Ayawadi draws on the setting of the historical Ayothaya kingdom, the Thai name for the era also known as Ayutthaya. The series has an established fandom through its original release, and the animation announcement drew a strong response from readers, many of whom framed their support as backing Thai-made animation and queer art.

The adaptation arrives as Thailand’s live-action BL industry continues to dominate the regional market, making an independently produced, fan-funded BL animation a comparatively rare undertaking. Episodes 1 and 2 are scheduled to premiere September 26 on the Clover Book Studio YouTube channel.
