NITRO CHiRAL writer Fuchii Kabura is contributing new fiction to Seikaisha’s upcoming Horror Market event, including a short horror BL story.
Nitroplus announced that Fuchii has written Ai, a new short horror BL novel, for Horror Market: Kaidan Sokubaikai Second Night. The story will be part of the event’s fiction doujinshi lineup. Fuchii has also written Kinen Satsuei, a separate short horror story for the event’s Novemikuji short-story fortune lineup.
The news is notable for BL visual novel fans because Fuchii is one of the central writers behind NITRO CHiRAL’s body of work. NITRO CHiRAL is Nitroplus’ Boys’ Love game brand, known for titles such as Togainu no Chi, Lamento -BEYOND THE VOID-, sweet pool, DRAMAtical Murder, and Slow Damage. Fuchii’s writing has long been tied to the studio’s darker BL storytelling, where romance, obsession, violence, trauma, and psychological horror are often enmeshed.
It is notable that one of BL visual novels’ most recognizable scenario writers is joining the horror fiction project, and specifically delivering a horror BL work. While this is not a new NITRO CHiRAL game announcement, it is still a rare new Fuchii-written BL work outside the usual visual novel space.
Horror Market: Kaidan Sokubaikai Second Night is hosted by Seikaisha as part of its 15th anniversary project. The event is revolves around small-run horror doujinshi created in what the organizers call an “official indies” format. This year’s theme is school horror, with the event taking place at a former school site in Iidabashi, Tokyo.
The fiction lineup also includes High School Teacher by Gen Urobuchi, another Nitroplus writer known for darker genre work. Other participating writers include Asaura, Ryusui Seiryoin, Renya Setoguchi, Hojo Tsuda, Kaoru Toyama, and Koji Watanabe.
Horror Market: Kaidan Sokubaikai Second Night will run from July 10 to July 12 at the Iidabashi former school site in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The July 10 session requires paid timed-entry tickets, while the July 11 and July 12 doujinshi sale periods are listed as free-entry during event hours.
