Laftel has released a reworked opening for its original BL animation One Room TA (원룸 조교님), based on the manhwa by Jibung, roughly a month after taking the first version down in response to criticism. The platform said it had overhauled the opening’s entire sound production, including vocals and mixing, and thanked fans who had waited for the new cut.
The original opening went up around June 13 and was pulled within about a day. While the animation itself was well received, the opening song drew heavy criticism, especially with the vocal performances. The vocals had been handled by members of the VTuber group PsyCode, and the backlash was compounded when that group’s fanbase filled the opening’s YouTube comments and social media replies with talk of the performers rather than the series, a poor fit for a mature-rated BL work with an established readership of its own.
On June 14, Laftel removed the video and announced that the audio would be replaced, making the original opening private on YouTube and pulling it from the platform. The following day, creator Jibung posted a statement framing the removal as the result of their own strong revision request as the original author, citing a desire for higher quality and asking fans to wait for an improved re-release.
Now, that promised re-release is finally here. By completely rebuilding the audio from the ground up, Laftel has directly addressed the exact issues fans had with the first iteration. The reworked opening is performed by singer Jeon Ye-chan, confirming Laftel re-cast the vocals rather than re-recording with the original performers.
One Room TA is a romance-comedy adapted from Jibung’s boys’ love manhwa, set on a college campus. It follows Uyun, a life-sciences student who has returned to university, and Jinhyeong, the quiet teaching assistant in the administrative office he begins dating and living with. The animation is a Laftel Original, self-produced by the Korean streaming platform, and is set to premiere in summer 2026. The reworked opening is available now on Laftel’s official YouTube channel.
