Takeshobo is releasing a three-volume artbook collection dedicated to illustrator Kasai Ayumi’s cover work for the BL magazine Reijin, bringing together more than three decades of illustrations from the magazine’s 1993 launch through 2025.

Kasai Ayumi Artbook Reijin 1993-2004, Reijin 2004-2015, and Reijin 2015-2025 will all release simultaneously on September 26, 2026. Each A4-sized volume contains 144 pages and is priced at 8,800 yen ($56.03 USD) including tax.

The books use codex binding, allowing the pages to open fully flat so artwork can be viewed without parts of the illustrations disappearing into the center gutter. Each featured piece is also accompanied by newly written commentary from Kasai, including production notes and her memories from when the covers were originally created.

A limited special edition collecting all three books will also be available for 28,600 yen ($182.10 USD) including tax. The set comes packaged in a custom box featuring newly drawn artwork by Kasai and includes a limited bonus set of large illustration cards with handwritten signatures.

The boxed edition is being produced in limited quantities and will no longer be available once retailer stock sells out.

Kasai has illustrated covers for Reijin since the magazine’s first issue in 1993, making her artwork a consistent part of its visual identity for more than 30 years. Her detailed and sensual illustration style has become closely associated with the magazine throughout its publication history.

Outside of Reijin, Kasai is known for her expansive BL cover illustrations. She has also previously released artbooks including Biyaku and Nuregoto.

For BL collectors, the three-volume project offers an unusually extensive archive of a single illustrator’s contribution to one long-running magazine. Taken together, the books provide a visual record of more than three decades of Reijin covers and the changing aesthetics of commercial BL illustration from the 1990s through the 2020s.

Official product pages for all three volumes and the limited boxed set are available through Takeshobo.
