Crossed Hearts has revealed the first four titles in its BLUSH CLUB lineup, giving the publisher’s Boys’ Love imprint its first full slate of licensed manga.
BLUSH CLUB is Crossed Hearts’ BL-focused label, created for Boys’ Love stories across different styles, tones, and origins. When the imprint was first introduced, Crossed Hearts described it as a place for stories built around intimacy, longing, and emotional connection, with more than a dozen BL titles planned. Now, the publisher has started showing what that lineup will look like.
The first four BLUSH CLUB titles are The Bird in the Cage Dreams by Yakei Hiragai, Until We Fall in Love by An Chanoki, The King of Owls and His Troubled Attendant by Chikuwabu Tanno, and A Gaze Like Lightning by Yuhi Shinome. Crossed Hearts says all four titles will be released in print and digital editions worldwide in December 2026.
The first title, The Bird in the Cage Dreams, leans into a darker fantasy setting. The story follows a fierce warrior clan, a future leader with one goal, and a disgraced former warrior whose fate becomes bound to his. Crossed Hearts presents it as a mature BL story about loyalty, punishment, and choosing love even when duty and bloodshed stand in the way. Out of the four debut titles, this one appears to be the heaviest in tone, with a larger fantasy-warrior setup.
Until We Fall in Love moves in a much lighter direction. The manga follows Manato, a cupid who helps human romances while not fully understanding love himself. Things become complicated when Towa, the school’s popular boy, falls for him and refuses to give up. The setup gives BLUSH CLUB a more classic high-school romance entry, mixing supernatural comedy with the familiar tension of someone who thinks he understands love from the outside, only to become the one who has to figure it out for himself.
The third title, The King of Owls and His Troubled Attendant, brings the lineup back into fantasy. Set in the divine realm of Kakuriyo, the manga centers on King Madara of the Northern Bird Clan and Sagari, the attendant who has stayed by his side since childhood. Their relationship is built around duty, secrecy, and feelings that should not cross the line between king and servant. The premise gives BLUSH CLUB a second fantasy title, but with a softer emotional focus than The Bird in the Cage Dreams: childhood bonds, royal obligation, and a love that becomes harder to keep hidden.
The fourth title, A Gaze Like Lightning, is a college romance about secret feelings and a matchmaking request that turns painful. The story follows a kind-hearted student who agrees to help the campus heartthrob with romance, even though he has feelings of his own. Its hook is simple but effective: the person helping someone else fall in love may be closer to the confession than he realizes. Compared to the fantasy titles, A Gaze Like Lightning gives the debut lineup a modern, grounded romance built around crushes, hesitation, and unexpected mutual longing.
Together, the four titles give BLUSH CLUB a clear first identity. Rather than opening with one tone, Crossed Hearts is starting with a mix of mature fantasy drama, supernatural school romance, royal fantasy longing, and college confession romance. That variety echoes what Crossed Hearts originally teased BLUSH CLUB as a broader BL space, with yaoi, Korean BL, manhwa, danmei, manhua, and other titles still planned.
For English-language BL readers, BLUSH CLUB is worth watching because it represents another publisher entering the licensed BL space at a time when more Japanese, Korean, and Chinese BL works are reaching overseas audiences through print and digital releases. The first four titles are all manga, but Crossed Hearts’ own wording suggests the imprint is not limited to one format or country of origin.
