Chil-Chil Video Awards 2026 has opened voting, giving BL drama fans a chance to choose their favorite live-action BL works, actors, scenes, and lines from the past year, according to PR Times.
The annual award is hosted by Chil-Chil, the BL information site operated by Sandias. Unlike Chil-Chil’s main BL Awards, which focus heavily on manga, novels, and related publishing categories, the Video Awards center on live-action BL dramas and films from Japan and overseas.
Voting opened on July 2 at 4:00 p.m. JST and will run until July 12 at 11:59 p.m. JST. Results are scheduled to be announced in late August through Chil-Chil’s official site and social media.
This year’s awards include four categories: Work, Lead Actor, Famous Scene, and Famous Line. The Work and Lead Actor categories use nominated entries, while the Famous Scene and Famous Line categories are handled through free-response voting. Voters can choose up to two entries for the Work and Lead Actor categories, with a first-place vote counting for five points and a second-place vote counting for three points.
Voting is web-only and requires a free Chil-Chil account. Fans can change their votes during the voting period, with the selections active at the deadline treated as the final valid vote.
Eligible titles include Japanese live-action BL works that first aired or streamed in Japan between January and December 2025, as well as overseas BL works that began Japanese-subtitled distribution by the end of April 2026. Dramas, films, and short dramas are eligible regardless of platform, including TikTok, YouTube, and theatrical releases. Animation is not included.
The Work category nomination list shows how wide the live-action BL field has become for Japanese audiences. Domestic nominations include Futtara Doshaburi, Zoku BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita, Hishaikaishindo, Ameagari no Bokura ni Tsuite, 40 Made ni Shitai 10 no Koto, Renai Ruby no Tadashii Furikata, Love Sea: Ai no Ibasho, Takumi-kun Series -Drama-, Anata wo Korosu Tabi, 25 Ji, Akasaka de Season 2, PUNKS△TRIANGLE, Shugakuryoko de Nakayoku Nai Group ni Hairimashita, Therapy Game, If no Sekai de Koi ga Hajimaru, and 10DANCE.
The nomination list also places those titles alongside a broad range of overseas BL works, including Revenged Love, The Next Prince, Top Form: Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu., My Golden Blood, Shine, Secret Lover, Me and Thee, My Magic Prophecy, That Summer, Goddess Bless You From Death, Desire, Ball Boy Tactics, Secret Lover, My Stubborn, To My Shore, Kill To Love, ThamePo: Heart That Skips a Beat, Revamp: The Undead Story, PIT BABE 2, and Raiun to Amekaze.
The Lead Actor category follows the same wide spread of Japanese and overseas productions. Japanese nominees include Asahi Ito and Jun Muto for Futtara Doshaburi, Alan Abe and Nichika Akutsu for Zoku BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita, Shunsuke Kazama and Kohei Shoji for 40 Made ni Shitai 10 no Koto, Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida for 10DANCE, and Win Morisaki and Koji Mukai for (LOVE SONG).
The overseas side includes familiar names from Thai, Korean, Taiwanese, and Chinese BL. Nominees include Zee Pruk and NuNew Chawarin for The Next Prince, Boom Raweewit and Smart Chisanupong for Top Form, Joss Way-ar and Gawin Caskey for My Golden Blood, Mile Phakphum and Apo Nattawin for Shine, Pond Naravit and Phuwin Tangsakyuen for Me and Thee, Jimmy Jitaraphol and Sea Tawinan for My Magic Prophecy, William Jakrapatr and Est Supha for ThamePo: Heart That Skips a Beat, Boun Noppanut and Prem Warut for Revamp: The Undead Story, and Pavel Naret and Pooh Krittin for both Goddess Bless You From Death and PIT BABE 2.
Last year, Chil-Chil Video Awards 2025 named the live-action drama Miseinen: Mijukuna Oretachi wa Bukiyou ni Shinkouchuu as the Trend Division Work Award winner with 8,417 points. The drama was based on Hinun’s Korean BL webtoon and followed two emotionally inexperienced high school boys as their relationship developed through uncertainty, pain, and first love. Its win reflected not only the strength of Japanese live-action BL, but also the continued presence of Korean source material within Japan’s BL drama space.
For English-speaking BL fans, Chil-Chil Video Awards 2026 is useful because it shows which live-action BL titles are resonating with Japanese voters, not only which series are trending internationally. The eligibility rules also make the award a snapshot of how BL dramas travel into Japan through subtitles, streaming, theatrical releases, and short-form platforms.
With Japanese titles, Thai productions, Korean dramas, Taiwanese short dramas, and Chinese-language works all appearing in the nomination field, this year’s awards reflect how live-action BL has become a cross-border viewing culture. Final results are expected in late August.
